a person who has moved his "home" from One country to another country goes through
many phases before ACCULTURATION to "new society " or country is accomplished:
Home sickness, Alienation, lonliness, happy memories and even comfortable life left behind
can lead to a SPECTRUM of moods, behavior outcomes described by the writer.

The best strategy is to THINK like the natives or like they say -"In ROME, act and behave like
the ROMANS" .This does not imply that you GIVE UP your strong beliefs , customs or values.. but to feel at home , one must start LOOKING at things like the natives do, even if
you disagree .
Get to know the natives, interact with them and appreciate their world view-easily said
then accomplished.
Keep in mind - YOU ARE WHERE YOU ARE - ( I don;t remember who said it, may be
RUMI or Tagore or even Deepak) but one can feel like home if you change your
ATTITUDE ( a shift in your LATITUDE AND ATTITUDE) about where you happen to be.
People everywhere have more in COMMON than not! don't you think so.
Diversity is to be appreciated even when we are almost the same ( i.e. HUMANS
with similar NEEDS and Tendencies)
Get into the CULTURE of where you are ( like art, music, dance, food, sights , religion
and language). Most of all "see the people in new light" and try to appreciate the
surroundings you are in.
It takes TIME.. acculturation is a slow process but the final outcome is a peaceful,
loving feeling that you will feel , " AT HOME" . one again , you are where you are
Hope you like the thoughts expressed here.
Best of luck to you
