There are so much confusion out there about which path to take in search of enlightenment or “salvation.” I was raised Catholic and was taught to hold on to my faith in fear of eternal damnation if I veered off the path. I then went to Evangelical Christianity and was encumbered with the same belief. I will always hold to the teachings of Jesus and accept Him as my Lord, meaning that I honor his insturctions. I believe that everyone who lives the life he taught, which is one of love, kindness, and spirituality is saved. This means that Jews, Muslims, Himdus, and peoples of all faiths who abide in love will attain heaven. So why worry about 2012. It is the age of enlightenment, not the age of cataclysm.

I find this all very Interesting and in-lighting. Why is it that everything we have that is Old, Maya calendars,The Bible, Dead sea scrolls, Science itself, history of real peoples written words vs theories. Why do we all seem to think we should understand anything with our own intellect? We alone are nothing and our comprehension is very limited in the Grand scheme of things. Knowledge without Understanding is Mans theories and are subject to Gross errors. Call it what you want, Theories or Faith its a belief that something is true, And I know as well as all of us do, Some things we believe and don’t believe are true or False regardless of our opinion . It is up to us all to be more tolerable of one another and be more open and have a Hope for things to be as we each would hope they would be. I am a Believer of what I Hope for and have in my own system some absolutes and some I don’t have a clues. So what happens on 2012 Dec. 21st, No one knows but something could just as it could any other day , To us it will be the same.The forces of good and evil treat their own with the same measure they dole it out with. How do you want to be treated? Do likewise and it will be.

the sad truth is we as a race should be damned mad as to what has been kept away from us.there will be a fantastic display of unimaginable solar,lunar and galacial power.as i stated earlier this aspect of our being was taken away from us and called witchcraft.funny but they use it,marking our cities with the zodiac.all ritualistic,and don’t forget it.it is the end of life on earth,this is a natural cycle and we just happen to be caught up in it.that is why you have the creation myth,they know full well what awaits us,and will be parked around the corner waiting for things to settle…then it’s back to the drawing board!

I read somewhere, can’t remember where, that there have been more discoveries of Maya calenders that have gone on for thousands of years after 2012. The Maya aren’t at all worried about 2012. I’d like to think that this all a bunch of hype, that nothing major will happen.

Perhaps the Mayans just got tired of making calendars for so far into the future. They prpbably got to 2012 and said “That’s enough. Let somebody else pick up from there…”

Here is my opinion about all this. I am french so some words might not be right and i am doing my best. I dont believe in the consciousness concept. I think that the Mayans were just trying to predict future but could not describe it in other words in those primitive times. I look at it more like if they were just predictions. For sure , those predictions are very scary but there are plenty of other predicators like Nostradamus who also predicted many things and many really happened and some didnt. I think that we should not believe everything we can find and we should not base our lives on those. If there is gonna be a Niribu planet destroying the Earth in 2012 , whatever conciousness you have , the Earth will be destroyed anyway. I dont belive the world will ever end. At least not by some divine higher power or apocalypse or whatever. My thing is the Earth has been around for 4 billion years .(we have hard evidence of that) The sun and stars all around the galaxy and universe are 10’s 100’s 1000’s of times older (in terms of time). So why all the sudden would the Earth or the universe End? Is not like the earth is the only one most important thing in the entire universe. The universe is inifinetly large no begining and no end. A good way to get over the factor of time is to look at it like this. Time doesnt exist. It is an illusion. The past already became the future, The future already became the present and the present already became the past. It is an infinte loop. Albert Einstien said it himself. The basis of existence is eternal

I don’t know of any books, and am just stepping my toes into the waters of the 2012 thing, but
I have found Michael Tsarion’s stuff interesting.
I just googled him.
I am not saying he is right, as I am keeping an open mind on the thing, and like Deepaks answer,
am concentrating on my inner self.
I eel that when 2012 comes, what ever happens, if we are facing towards connecting to the real
self inside, and not the persona, all will be well in 2012, whatever happens on earth.

Mmmm..I believe we simply need to look inside for our answers. I have been also looking at those predictions and there are many others, but I think we simply need to stay in the moment. This moment is all we really have, the past is gone and the future is simply as mystery as life. I believe we should do what makes us happier and more aware of every single moment we experience. Transformation is already happening since the beginning and it is part of everything…so I think we should not worry about the predicted “end” which could be interpretated in different ways. Anyway, let’s try not to be afraid of change or even death. Like I’ve learned…death isn’t sad…the sad thing is that most people don’t live at all.

All the answers are in Jesus Christ, God incarnate, here with us, Emanuel, God with us. In the End, Jesus comes back with The Word written on His leg, the Word of God is the Holy Bible. The Word, Jesus Christ, says there are two places we go when we leave here, and it is our choice, Heaven, or Hell. Believe in Jesus Christ, as God’s gift for you and go to Heaven. Deny Him and go to Hell. Your choice, no matter what happens to earth.

I am too tired to read the question but I think the answer might be; “Yes. Apocalypse soon.” However, I need to look into Apocalypse and see what it is all about. All I know about it is that mel Gibson ( who I would like to meet one day) made a movie about it. I think one day I should watch the movie to learn more about APOCALYPSE. It is not an easy word to pronounce and remember though.

I like Ian Lundgold’s interpretation of the Mayan calendar in that it is a calendar of consciousness not of time. And that the final date in 2012 is a definite demarkation of the change in the consciousness of the planet. Everyhting he presents that outlines the specifics of the calendar are possibilities. And isn’t that what this life is, possibilities?
