I will be the one who admits - I still don't have or feel deep down
that I have the complete answer to this one.

It is nice to read the different views.

I think I am still mixed with
"a zealous philosophy of purity"
"the physical/animalistic craving aspect of sexuality"
And the intensity of soul sexuality… which I just made up somewhere
Along the line of life….

Yet, I don't suppress it
I do redirect it into physical work outs at the gym...
(Which doesn't always work)

I agree that this will all work it's self out and I am 44 years old and single parent
with two children.....

This is the kicker as far as what I believed about sex…

Somewhere in the past I concluded that sex was only a part of Love.
If you did not have love or fall in love you where not to have sex.
Zealous purity….

On the other hand, when I tried to have one without the other, it never really worked.
Even a conscious experiment in my late 30’s still turned into love; the deepest love I have
Had so far. Which I still enjoy very much to this day….

I don’t worry of this – or even fret because I feel like I am on my correct path of
Enlightenment and this has worked for me. I just keep finding out year after year
This is not the way others have walked….

But how “many others” walk the path of
Enlightenment and follow someone else perfectly?
I don’t think it’s my purpose to follow the same exact way, for I know
My path is to be as unique as I need it to be.

I can’t see my life without sex or love but I have embraced celibacy now for over
1 year to date from last summer and once before that about 5 years ago. It feels
Right because the man I love is far away and I cant even think about
sex with another…. I want to embrace him without the residew of another. He
is the only love I hold in my heart – why allow a falseness… I wish to be authentic.

It seems like the key to Celibacy is individualized
when details come into play of the past history
But valid key points like the ones by Dr. Chopra and
Other posts above are very helpful and always nice to read

Thank you all for sharing and offering me a new way or deeper way to understand
What may be a better or different path than I now walk…..

I still can’t move into sex without love… the intensity that I share is treasured
In the unfolding of the sex…. Almost like a sex of soul … if that is possible

Just wanted to add my thoughts on the matter.

While I admire the commitment and dedication of those spiritual
aspirants who chose the path of celibacy as a means of awakening
their higher Self, I do not think it is necessary for spiritual growth.

The Buddha emphasized the 'Middle Way' (engagement in both
meditation as well as contact with the sensual world and striking
a balance of some kind) and Krishna before him also mentions
the same thing in the Gita.

Sexuality and Love is and can be a means to appreciating
the Divine and the Sublime (hence, the purpose of the Kama Sutra
in Hindu philosophy). The important thing is to act responsibly and
strike a balance and not get "addicted" to sex. Just my thoughts.

Peace,
Taz

What a enjoyable 'question' to read :) I don't feel so alone now....

I'm currently 50 years old, started my spiritual journey, celebacy, etc., around age of 25. Deepak is absolutely correct, it will resolve itself in time. Mine subsided and more or less (best way I can explain it) 'blended' into the rest of my energy and added a divine aspect, to my energy.

What an 'honor' to read about your achievement and how deep your devotion is! May you be blessed in all you seek......
