Deepak -

You say: "You will probably gain more lasting benefits by addressing your underlying insecurities, fears and beliefs than you would from plastic surgery." And, "Making an effort to draw your self-value and worth through your essence rather than your outer appearance will have a profound influence on all aspects of your well being."

However, with those wise suggestions and ideas in mind, I have a question. What if you are going into a professional field where personal appearance is crucially important to your livelihood and career longevity? Surely, those in the entertainment business - despite the benefits of understanding and viewing one's self worth and value through the lens of one's true, natural essence - could argue that their outer appearance also has a profound influence on all aspects of their well-being. Especially since they are seen so often in the public eye, (and with pictures and videos now often being taken in hi-def), and especially since they are captured from all angles (and therefore must "look good" from all angles).

What would be your response if someone told you that they were considering plastic surgery because they felt a need to, for lack of a better wording, conform to certain [facial] beauty standards because they felt it would be beneficial in their chosen career? Because they felt it would ease their worries about being constantly being looked at, scrutinized, on camera, etc.? (Clarification: Of course, beauty is a fluid thing - there are many famous women who look very different from one another that we consider very beautiful, so there is no single beauty standard out there. But, in general, certain features are generally considered more desirable, generally considered more beautiful, than others.)

What if this person had a desire to advance their sense of self mentally, emotionally, and spiritually beyond their insecurities about their appearance, yet still felt that plastic surgery seemed appealing for professional reasons? And, say this person enjoyed living a "natural" lifestyle, consuming organic food and non-toxic products, engaging in regular yoga practice and other exercise, and always seeking the most natural cosmetic options. Even then, if they still found themselves considering plastic surgery - one of the more invasive ways to change physical appearance, and definitely not "natural" for the body during or post-operation (the changes might end up looking subtle, but surely this is jarring to the system)... what would you say to them in that case, if they came to you "pondering plastic surgery" and seeking your opinion about changing one's appearance?

I preached this for a number of years.
I think my daughter ignored me and got something done though (breast augmentation, not sure). (I know preaching doesn't work (but I do it anyway); she also got a big tattoo on her arm -- I think it looks like bruising but I do not want to make her feel bad plus I am sure she likes it (an influence from her former boyfriend). I wonder what auruvedic thinks of tattoos. Always wondered if acupucture and tattoos could be combined into a healing modality. (Same with dentistry and acupunture...).

My son who is almost 24 and to tell him not to get married would not work. He is a "Christian" who is quite dogmatic raised mostly by his Mother who is the same. (I was merely a sperm donor -- she wanted a kid -- I totally regret I could not figure a way to be in his life more) but after taking him to Magic Mountain, Disneyland and Water Parks find when he was young (plus a few films and dinners) I was never included and they moved far away but I have thought and prayed for protection love wisdom light for him (and often the Mom). But I am excluded and not invited to his wedding. Says his neurotic soon to be bride couldn't take the introduction of a new person into their lives. (So this saves me giving them a $1000 gift).

Thank you so much for your reply Deepak!!
Love and peace on you as well. I will definitely explore the inside first and explore this need to conformbefore doing anything so drastic, if it is still needed after that
