I believe that being open & connected to the source inside you, regardless of what you do or don't call it, is the most important thing. I was raised Catholic & was even an alterboy for much of my young life. All of my schooling until college was in Catholic schools but I discovered by taking comparative religion in both High School & College that the differences in all the major religions are much less then they appear. I think to believe in the power of the universe & the power you have inside is the most important thing you can do. You can accomplish anything you want in life if you believe you can & trust in the connection & power you have inside you. Hope this helps.
Hugs,

Spirituality in my opinion is awareness. Awareness of our own thoughts and awareness of the infinite energy field that creates everything in the Universe. This infinite energy field, I call God.
In my opinion, one does not have to believe in God to be spiritual.
In my opinion, if someone does not believe in God, that does not mean that one is going to be less successful in life.
I think one can still be spiritual without believing in God. Because spirituality is being aware of our soul, and being aware of that something that exists in the Universe but cannot be perceived by our 5 senses. Call it God or call it something else.
A lot of religions believe that if you do not believe in God, you are dammned. I do not believe that.
I would recommend to the Gentleman to read some of Deepak Chopra's books, like "Knowing God", and "Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire" and "Life after Death". I would also recommend that the gentleman Meditate twice daily. Instructions to meditation by Deepak Chopra are available on youtube.
By the way, I was raised in India in a deeply religious family.

Becoming an atheist or agnostic may or may not effect success-at least in the way "the world" in general gauges success. But then without God where will "hope" be--based not on things in the past..nor things today. Without God how can there be a centralized grounding, a rainbow prism of wisdom, a direct connect to our universe and a clear peaceful vision of the eternal. Ride the wave in faith. And always remember, the natural laws of this world in this age require both the negative and positive for the full life experience--something one day we will look back upon and be thankful it is behind us. Blessings.
