O ye Children of Adam! whenever there come to you messengers from amongst you, rehearsing My signs unto you,- those who are righteous and mend (their lives),- on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.

We are all expression of God. Then, why will we do bad things? Unless, you learned the hidden lesson of those dad things you did, you will understand that it is not your true self did something wrong, but the one that might have been frosted with hate and misinterpretation about all things through your growing history.
Learn yourself histroy, and find the truth in you, connect to the true self in you, you will see the light.
Feel sorry to your past has nothing to do with your self improvement. You have to learn to accept yourself, let go your past, and do good things to yourself and others.

We are never punished by God in the first place. It is the lack of understanding the eternal Presence of God, and who and what God is that makes one feel as though he has committed a sin. God is Truth, Life and Love, Man is God's image, reflection and likeness and so called, sin seems to occur and appear on the screen of human experience because of our ignorance to this fact. We are not ever punished by God as that would be like saying the principle of eternal Good punishes bad...In Truth, God is, and Good is always happening and as we recognize this Truth so called evil disappears into the nothingness that it is...However we are punished by so called sin as long as we continue to entertain it in our consciousness.

The mathematical principle of addition would never punish a 5 to a 2+2 equation, but let's face it, 4 certainly is in harmony with the principle of this particular analogy;;;hope this helps
