I am a student of A Course in Miracles and have come to the intellectual understanding of non-duality as well. It has been my experience that as I study and practice and the years go by, I have caught glimpses of how deep this non-duality thing actually is, and how much I DO NOT wish to really understand it, let alone come into continual conscious awareness of it. Both the mind-blowing reality of it and the traitorous fierceness of my resistance to waking up can scare the pants off of me!! My resistance and ā€œfailuresā€ to maintain higher consciousness — and the ugly feelings and behavior that go along with it — have really bummed me out in the past. Iā€™d really beat myself up for taking a little (or big, deep, and long) ā€œsnoozeā€ into old thinking/feeling/believing/behaving ā€“ but Iā€™m practicing my way out of that old junk too best I can. My point is that falling back to sleep happens, and boy is it good to have a gentle message of love from Deepak to wake up to ā€“ a kind and loving brother. It was comforting to read this exchange and remember that I am where I need be now, working out my old stuff and practicing the highest level of awareness and love I can muster up at any given time (even if sometimes it ainā€™t so high!!). Thanks again to you both.

The path to material wealth and worldy power would be very short indeed if you could make an enlightenment pill. If meditation attracted people then we wouldnā€™t all meditate? The truth is it is very easy to be distracted by the world and not contemplate the universe, nor is facing your shadow self an easy task.

Deepak, you mentioned pace in your response. Both too slow and too fast are a challenge. In my experience, I am at the most risk of relapse when a rapid series of revelations makes me feel like I am winning. With many burdens lifted my ego can rear up and send me backwards.

This message becomes clear the more you read about Vedanta/Yoga/meditation/Buddhism, etc.

Life is about learning & growing & once we stop learning we stop living.

I have learned in my professional & personal life that, as you say Deepak, everyone learns differently & deciphering how to help someone learn what they need to know from where they are is an amazing challenge. I have found that in this process I have learned more then what I teach. Every person that enters my life has something to teach & I willing look to learn all that I can learn.
