Hi,

I was reading as to what you are going through, why don’t you try on going for a silent meditation retreat with your wife for 6-7 days if its offered in your city and see if you can meet her at a spiritual level as well. For a marriage to work out, it is really important that couples follow the same spiritual journey. See if it helps, rest are your circumstances you have to work accordingly, I really loved Dr. Chopra’s advise.

I hope you find the strength to make a decision. I admire the simplicity of Deepak’s answer. You actually are looking to purge yourself of the burden of your decision. If you knew you were right, you wouldnt be seeking any one’s validation for it. An annoying anecdote people usually use for such situations is- you cant have your cake and eat it too. I hope Deepak’s perspective helps you to introspect and discover the possibility of healing your current relationship. Like every other woman, I never give up hope on a happy ending. My prayers usually come true. I will send some prayers of peace your way for you and your wife. Good luck.

It is your duty to stay in this marriage, especially since it was pre-arranged. Your focus must be on the happiness and security of your wife and daughter. It may sound old-fashioned and simplistic but this will also be your path to well-being.

I am a couples therapist in the US. I think it might be good for this man and woman to try to find someone who could work with them who does understand Indian culture and its complexities.
