“Why it is what it is” has remained an unresolved mystery for centuries. I was trapped in the same for years & I see the whole society around me feeling the same. I don’t believe that even great spiritual masters have the right answer to the ridiculous levels of suffering and poverty. I only found complete peace after reading Nisargdutta Maharaj’s “I am That” book. Everything is a bubble, mind creates illusion, memory creates continuity ..”I Am” is the only reality.

Some people like to work and be with their family, the “simple jobs” are usually the most conducive to that. Those that make the best of everything they have. and Love every minute of it.

I agree that you should not feel universal pity toward people because they are ‘poor’. Many poor people are happier than rich people. However, I worry the attitude that “everyone is evolving exactly as they need to” makes people think that they don’t need to help. Many people are living in genuine misery, not of their own making, and need real help…food, shelter, education, etc.. What they then do with that help is within the power of their own minds and hearts.

So, stop feeling pity for people and actually DO something.
