The human genome project is now 10 years old and has spent $3 BILLION. The main focus was preventing and curing illness. NY Times article on Monday reveals that "medicine has yet to see any large part of the promised benefits."

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/13/health/research/13genome.html?hp

Several years ago research suggesting depression was genetic was debunked, but many doctors still think the study is valid, because prescription drugs rely on a mechanical flaw in humans, to be sold.

After $3 BILLION, will we wake up and realize we are on the wrong track? That maybe genes aren't to blame for everything and humans are not machines with design flaws? Drop the mechanistic view of humans and science's obsession that only what is seen and measurable matters? Probably not!

Bravo Deepak for continuing to trumpet the horns that what is seen, the physical world, is only a fraction of cause & effect. Maybe some day you'll convince Michael Shermer that love is more than just oxytocin being released in the body...

When I was a child, it seemed like I would catch a cold anytime I'd go outside in chilly weather with a wet head. I don't remember why I did that in the first place. I think it was when I'd take a shower in the morning before school. It also seemed like I'd catch a cold if I went to bed with my hair wet. The truth is, I caught a lot of colds period. The colds usually lasted for about a month. Once I grew up and discovered hot tea with honey and lemon worked like a charm (3 days opposed to 30), I rarely catch a cold. But I believed that what happened to me as a child would always happen, so I made sure not to go outside or to bed with wet hair. So I don't know if it would have happened as an adult. Since that's what I thought, it might have, huh?:)

The point about people expecting to get sick reminded me of the story you told in Creating Health-Beyond Prevention, Toward Perfection about the woman who kept telling her doctor that she had cancer and then after 20 years was diagnosed with cancer. And her response was to tell her doctor, "I told you so..." I don't know why I acted surprised since my intuition told me what the outcome would be.

When my best friend was ill, she had said she wanted to be here for her birthday (Christmas Eve) and for Christmas Day. Sadly she didn't make it. So, now that you have written about this subject, it leaves the question in my mind as to why her. Her sister is her twin and she left 3 children here without her in their lives.

Deepak, you are one of the most intelligent and spiritual people I've had the privilege and have been blessed to connect with. And I thank you so much for sharing your gifts, your knowledge, and for teaching me so much already about consccousness. I still have so much to learn though.

I look forward to reading and learning more from you.
