My questions are how does desires, the ego, goals, aspirations and the attachment to desires (needs and wants) factor into happiness? Are my desires and goals (e.g., create a design business, have a child, biologically or otherwise, create financial freedom, etc ) forms of ‘external happiness’ as you mention here?

I believe the goals i’m working towards and my artistic expressions have a purpose and meaning are this is now truely the journey i’m meant to walk. That said i continue to have some struggles, questions and dealing with lingering feeling of suffering though i’m now have the spiritual knowledge of how to alleviate my pain and suffering. and my life is richer and much less anxious for it.

Also very grateful for the local library where I was able to read most of everything you’ve written so far both in the original English & excellent French translations.

I also came across an old Canadian Broadcasting program where you exchanged with the Dalai Lama about the inspiring and practical applications of their ancestral insight into Happiness and on this count I include two books I’m finding both very helpful & delightful with their respective Amazon Internet links.

The easiest introduction on this is entitled Happiness : A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill by Matthieu Ricard with preface by Daniel Goleman (Paperback – Jan 5 2007).
