It seems that returning to the gpld standard raises it’s ugly head at the mere notion of slim economic times. Let’s leave it where it is, a commodity that investors may invest, and disinvest in any time the whim strikes. That it has little, or no relativity to the purchasing value of the dollar is indeed fortuitous. Let’s look at what was really said. Obama, acting as possibly one of the few adults in this drama, continues to claim the high ground, the opposition continues to grasp at every opportunity to “expose” him as the villain, miscalculates badly, over reaches, and is punished at the polls. How? There isn’t one current candidate in all of that mixed bag of wanna be’s who can well and truly be considered a candidate with a wide enough draw , and philosophical platform to force the Party to consolodate behind. There will be a Third Party ticket that will create the same problems Ross Perot created for Bob Dole when he lost to Clinton. Democrats will resolve their differences long before any alternative threat occurs. The Adult will have risen to the challenge and prevailed.

Your observations miss the point that the seriousness of our economic and political issues revolve around a currency crisis that stems from being linked to a gold standard And the politicians except for Ron Paul can’t won’t or aren’t able to get it
