I agree with you Bill. It helps me a lot to think that nothing last forever, even emotions. Sometimes accepting anger and try to watch it from another level of consciousness is a very good way to dissolve it. It needs practice and a genuine intention to live a better life and heal the heart.

Deepak this is a powerful concept. One that most of us wrestle with day by day. I like Bill Lyons appeal in which we replace the negative emotion of anger with a more positive one as talk by the Stoics in which our enemies can no longer do us any harm because internally we do not allow them to. As Thomas Mertons said, "our real journey is interior."

I don't know if I can ever get to the point of loving an enemy. I know that enemies are a part of life and if one wants to do great things they are usually a byproduct. I also know that some enemies are put in your life to move one away from a certain path and onto ones destiny. I know all emotions have a purpose and we must let them do their job but then we must let them go. I especially like "Like every strong emotion, anger believes in itself; it wants to stick around and keep telling you its story. To get past this allure, stop paying attention to the story and the rationales attached to it. Instead, focus on making the angry energy leave." I found it best to replace the emotion with an alternative emotion that is just as empowering. That at least helps me live a stoic life. Stoic in the sense that an enemy is no longer an enemy or can hurt me because I simply don't allow them to. The emotion I replace the negative one yet is not love but hopefully one day I can obtain that level of spirituality.
