@Andrew:

I do not know if Deepak has no understanding on evolutionary psychology.

What says the evidence about nature and evolution up till now?

That we still do not know.
Nature and evolution are an ongoing process.

It would be wise to acknowledge at least that simple truth and just venture further.

No One has received Ultimate Knowledge (yet)

We just travel along to make new discoveries all the time.

I only know that you cannot ever judge another person objectively. There is always a subjective argument present in the background of every individual, namely he/she always acts from his/her own subjective interpretation.

If we come into this world as an uncarved block, and we then go on to learn eighty-percent of what we know, or ‘passes’ as knowledge in our first two years, what would be the innate behaviors you’re failing to describe?

I wasn't going for 'being right', it was more about perspective at this moment in time. I do agree with you about wisdom taking almost a whole lifetime, or many lifetimes.

Going from noun status to verb status is no easy undertaking for sure. Thank goodness we have 'an eternity' to fulfill our potential. :)

Deepak has no understanding of the literature on evolutionary psychology. This article has as much reasoned science in it as his article on colobus monkeys (that was widely ridiculed by almost every science blogger on the internet) He simply doesn't like what the evidence says about nature and evolution, so he invest some feel good stuff to appease the "spiritual" side. We can overcome our innate behaviors. But to deny that they are there and that evolution shaped them, that's the height of folly and Deepak is getting rightly routed for this article across the entire internet.

Yes, you are right kshatriya and this goes for women too.

Often there are circumstances in one another's life that make this a bit more difficult.

And here subjective reality is an important factor. Others call this karma I suppose.

And then it depends on the process of growing into a certain wisdom which according to my experience takes almost a whole lifetime.

A good learning school :)

It's an assumption that men, in general, do not listen to their heart. It would be insightful to say that the men who do not listen to their heart hold a majority.

Most men are bound by the myth of what masculinity is, and is not. A man has to break free from the herd to discover that one's true, or greatest strength comes from a willingness to experience vulnerability.

(This goes for women, too) :)

You could better say: How can men become wise about their own brain?
We all consist of a left and a right hemisphere in our brain.

Ideally these two work together.

She has the idea
He carries it out
The heart is the big promotor.

If men would listen more to their heart instead of to their linear side of the brain, there would be no problem.

We women do this by our very nature because we know how a life develops within ourselves.

Very good column, Deepak!
The Women's Movement (capitalized!) taught us a lot about achieving "masculine" qualities: assertiveness, empowerment, independence. (And sometimes, for some women, it went too far.)
What I've regretted is that there was never a Men's Movement, so men could acquire "feminine" qualities: nurturing, empathy, cooperation.
Men and women are equal, but not identical. And their differences should be a source of joy, not conflict.
