I love what Deepak says, and what he stands for. peace, love, inclusion. However, I believe that this debate will go on and on, those who are open are open, those who are not, won’t hear it. Perhaps there are those who are “on the fence”-maybe they will listen. But the ego is strong, and wants to be right, even if it knows it is wrong, even if it knows its happiness is at stake. The ego would rather be “right” than happy, and it will fight for that right to the death.

You really wrote that “we seem as far from understanding cognitive processes as we were a century ago”? That is emphatically not true. We may not understand all the neural correlates of consciousness, but we absolutely know a heck of a lot more than when the structuralists and functionalists were kicking it around. We learn more with each passing day as cognitive neuroscientists and neuropsychologists pursue ground breaking research into the neural correlates of consciousness and where cognitive processes arise in the brain.

Mystical mumbo-junbo is lovely for things that cannot be fathomed, but when you intrude into areas where there is empirical evidence and pretend that there is not, then you cannot but expect negative reactions from scientists and people in the fields whose work you either ignore or butcher.

Well done Deepak, as an MD of a construction company in the UK, with no formal training in “Science” It is easy for me to to spot the people with closed minds, and who have the most crippling disease, “Know -it -all -iteuss”
i have after 38 years of being a successful business man, also noticed the the “Knowledge” in the public domain, that people use to fuel there life deciscions, is so poor as to be a debilitating resource for them.
Keep up the good work, you are a shining light of hope for us all.
I am doing what I can, and there is a thankfully a growning band of open minded people on the planet

If you want the skeptics to really do a tap dance, maybe Dr. Chopra could ask them to explain string or M theory which is to my limited understanding; “Ya, well we can’t see the stuff because sometimes it’s in another dimension.” But, these theories are widely accepted in the physics community.
I’m glad that Dr. Chopra is sucessfully debating these guys.

You know, this makes alot of sense. There truly isnt “one” kind of science. Science is supposed to be breakthroughs of thinking and imagination. If someone is just going to limit it to one, especially if its only sceptisism- especially if its completly unsubstancial- then I would think of them as a complet poopoo head.
