Remembering past lives

Question:

Why don’t we remember? Dear Deepak I don’t know if you have an answer for this question, but why is it when we incarnate into the physical, we forget our true self or where we were before our birth. We have spent much more time on “the other side” so to speak, then we have spent here on Earth, yet there is not one memory of it. Remembering where we were before we were born would make life so much more enjoyable – there would be no fear of death, and we would be able to accept the death of people we Love with more ease.
Is it wrong to have a huge interest in life after death? Sometimes it scares me, because I feel more of a interest in what could come after this life, then in this actual life

Does end-of-life care prolong life or does it prolong suffering? Should it be a part of health-care reform?

Impatience with meditation

When I meditate I have hard time staying calm or even repeat mantras because my breathing becomes quite fast and irregular. I understand that this is a common reaction of my body trying to release old conditions. Usually there is subtle pain in my throat and solar plexus and I do feel better after each sessions of releasing my old painful memories, but I’m also frustrated since it has already been a few months practicing this without actually entering and staying in the gap. Is there any other methods to help speed up the process of releasing old conditioning other than sitting quietly and witness my body breathe out the emotional debris from the past?
