OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will feature world-renowned thought leader Dr. Deepak Chopra in two programs this week, including “Oprah’s Lifeclass: the Tour” as Chopra takes the stage alongside Oprah Winfrey at Radio City Music Hall in New York City to discuss Spiritual Solutions to air tonight, Monday April 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, then a one-on-one interview with Winfrey and Chopra from India on Super Soul Sunday to air this Sunday, April 29 at 11 a.m. ET/PT.

World-renowned thought leader Deepak Chopra joins Oprah to help viewers find spiritual solutions to life’s most difficult problems. They talk to Gossip blogger Perez Hilton talks about his path to spiritual awakening and how it has impacted his business and a mother living with worry, guilt, anger and fear after all three of her daughters were in a crippling car accident 12 years ago. Through Facebook, Twitter, Skype and an audience of more than 5,000 in New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Oprah and Deepak will take questions from Lifeclassers all around the world. This inspiring episode will teach viewers how to connect to something greater than themselves, live fully in the present and dissolve negative thoughts to create richer, more joyful lives.

Why People Need Good Jobs

Politicians on the right and left agree on one thing: it’s all about jobs. President Obama’s September 8th speech to Congress hinged on job creation, as did the GOP’s presidential debate the day before.
Political leaders can’t complete a sentence without mentioning jobs. But Washington seems to be talking about jobs as though they’ll magically spring up as a result of the right policy implementation or tax cut or tax hike. (more…)

In 2012, the issue won’t just be the economy

President Barack Obama is already pulling a bit of a hat trick, managing to sustain higher popularity than either George Bush or Ronald Reagan when they were stuck in economic doldrums. The bad economy pulls down his ratings on job performance, and this reflects the frustration of the public and widespread discouragement about the future. With the Republican House effectively blocking any potential stimulus, and the entire Republican Party bent on being the party of “No” – after all, it swept them into office last November, even if the country as a whole was damaged – many commentators have jumped on a new bandwagon. How to Love Your Enemies (Really)

Although a devotion to Christianity is often required in modern-day American politics, one of its central teachings, to love your enemy, is overlooked. Former President Bill Clinton has commented on the virulence of the political atmosphere that seemed to drastically increase during his time in office. Instead of winning against your opponent, he observed, the new attitude was that the other side needed to be destroyed. As a result, the sense of being colleagues or of reaching across the aisle was lost – and remains lost. The other party is nothing less than the enemy. (more…)
